Free Mosaic Pattern - Butterfly. Mosaiikmuster Liblikas.

Let's knit some butterflies for the Spring!

It's been a while since I last posted a free mosaic chart. I've been busy with releasing the Mmm...Mosaic socks pattern, working on new designs and travelling. Haven't even posted about the pattern release! We've moved to our summer home for some month and I'll hope to post more once we get the internet sorted. Ok, this post was meant to be about the Butterfly chart.

I had an idea that the Butterfly should be colourful and for that reason, I decided to use multi-coloured yarn, Cotton Gold Batik Design by Alize. I'm not a big fan of variegated or multicoloured yarns, never know how they will work and how the colours are distributed. I want to keep my colour scheme pale and muted. I'm happy with darker pink but there is not enough contrast between the pale pink and green colours. Something to work on.

For the second example I changed the chart a little and experimented with stitches too. So far I worked all samples in garter stitch, knitting back and forth. On the second butterfly I decided to work some stitches as purl on the wrong side, they appear as knit on the right side. Can you notice the differences between the right and left wing? What do you think, is it a good idea? Which wing you like better?
Knit your own butterflies and show off! Don't forget to tag me (arellaseatondesign) when you share your work in Instagram or Facebook. I would love to see what colours you used!

Kevadised liblikad!
Viimase liblika paremal tiival kudusin osad silmused tagasiridadel pahempidi. Kas märkad, kuidas muster joonistub välja erinevalt? Kumb variant on parem?
Koo oma kevadised liblikad ja jaga värvirõõmu!

What's On My Needles? Mis on varrastel?

My recent posts have been about mosaic knitting. I love how easy it is to knit, love to play with colors and create charts. Mosaic socks are finished and blocked, the pattern needs some final touches, test knit is going well. It's time to get ready for the pattern release.

Meantime I decided to use up the leftover yarn from socks and knit a pair of my Bouquet Fingerless Mitts for charity. When I started to work with Katia Seta Tweed yarn I wasn't sure I like it, it's rustic, not very smooth and no elasticity due to silk content. After washing the socks I love the yarn much more, now it's smoother and so soft!

On the third photo are all the mosaic blocks I've knit so far. Aren't they cute all together? There are two slightly different Butterfly patterns. I'll post the charts soon and write about how I experimented knitting them.

What is your favourite project out of three? What you would like to know more about these projects?

Millest tahaksid rohkem teada?

Mosaic pattern - Bunny. Mosaiik muster Jänku.

It's Easter time and Bunnies are hopping around! I created the mosaic knitting bunny chart. At first, I knit a bunny in the pink background but didn't like how the ears were straight to the edge of the square. I made some changes and I'm happy with the chart now. I knit another square in light green cotton yarn and white velvet. Bunnies should be soft and cuddly, right? The yarn is 100% polyester, Katia Velvet Fine. Knit your own Bunny washcloth or dishcloth. You can even make a baby blanket. Browse my previous posts for more free mosaic charts. And there is more to come! Next one will be (most likely) Butterfly.
Enjoy!

Lihavõttejänkud hüppavad ringi! Tegin jänkuskeemi valmis, kudusin lapi roosal põhjal jänkuga, kuid polnud väga rahul sellega. Tegin skeemi veidi ringi, nüüd ei ulatu kõrvad päris ruudu servani. Nüüd olen rahul! Roosa ruut on kootud puuvillasest ja puuvilla-akrüüli segusest lõngast. Roheline põhi on puuvillane, valge jänku aga hoopis Katia Velvet Fine, mis on polüester. Jänku peaks ju pehme karvapall olema. Vaata eelmisi postitusi sildiga Mosaic, leiad veel skeeme ja lühikese juhendi, kuidas mosaiiki kududa. Koo pesulapp või beebitekk, kombineerides erinevaid pildikesi. Ja mustreid tuleb veel! Järgmine on arvatavasti liblikas.
Head kudumist!

Which Gusset, Which Heel? Milline kannakiil, milline kand?

Decisions! At first I knit the gusset in stockinette stitch.

The gauge is different for stockinette and mosaic pattern, that's why I tried to work the gusset in garter stitch and then in mosaic pattern, as the sole is. Which option is the best?
What color to choose for the heel flap?

Esialgu kudusin kannakiilu parempidises koes. See pole parim variant, jääb veidi lokkima, sest parempidise koe ja mosaiikmustri kudumise tihedus on erinev. Ripskoeline kiil on veidi parem. Kolmas võimalus on kududa kannakiil sama mustriga, kui tallal.
Milline variant on parim?

Mmm...Mosaic Socks Test Knit.

As you know, I designed a mosaic sock pattern for a Mystery Knit-a-Long in an Estonian knitting forum. The pattern is translated into English and tech edited, time to run a test knit. I've made slight changes in the English version. I got some ideas and advice from mystery knitters.
Would you like to test knit these socks for me?
The test is open in my Ravelry group.
Welcome to join in!
See you there!

Socken Auf Zehenspitzen durch die Gänseblümchen.

Good news to my German friends! The Tiptoe Through the Daisies pattern is now available in German language, translated by Nicole,  Baccara in Ravelry. She kindly agreed to provide pattern support in German too.
If you need a translation from English to German or German to English, please contact Nicole through her website The Bold Ewe. Despite I don't speak German myself, I can highly recommend her, always there for you and quick to respond. How do I know the translation was good? I asked for a second opinion, just because I happened to be Nicole's first client and we both were happy to get someone's approvement. I will definitely use her services again.

The pattern is available in Ravelry and  LoveKnitting.

Hope you enjoy!
